A RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) is one of the most versatile utility boats available, seeing use as yacht tenders, law enforcement and military applications, largely due to the fact that they allow quick rafting while providing cushion between the boats with the signature “inflatable tube” surrounding the fiberglass or aluminum hull.
The Pirellli Tecnorib 1400 Sport takes the utility function of the RIB, and loads it with features to make the boat ideal as a stand-alone runabout with exceptional storage, and seating capacity for guests, whether running them from the yacht to shore, cruising the intercoastal, a day on the sandbar, or a run to the islands… And with the involvement of the Mannerfelt Design Team, the boat performs as well as it looks.
This Tecnorib 1400 Sport features sterndrive diesel power provided by MerCruiser, and delivering 370hp (272 kw) at 4200 rpm. The TDI 4.2L HO turbocharged engines connect to Bravo III XR drives with duo-prop technology, and are closed cooled to keep raw water out of the critical engine block and heads. The engines have been professionally maintained by Mercury techs, and recently had the manifolds and risers replaced. The total hours are 685 each.
At the helm, electronic fly-by-wire controls control the power, with the addition of joy-stick control for easy maneuvering around the dock. Raymarine displays provide engine management, GPS chart plotting, depth, and electronic switching for control of the vessel systems.
Comfortable seating fore and aft provide seating for upwards of 14 people, with the helm seats nestled behind a full windshield and top, including windshield wiper.
There is plenty of storage in this model, with a pop-up forward sun lounge that reveals a cavernous forward storage area, as well as storage behind the helm seat, and under the seats. Additional storage is in the extended swim platform as well.
